Is it time for universal standardized accessories for devices ?

We as consumers use products from different companies and that is a good thing perhaps as different companies keep the marketplace an competitive and the price competitive in addition to keeping the quality at high levels.

However; day after day; month after month , year after year , I notice that my drawer is so full of devices that belong to some product I used four years ago or maybe five.

The device is literally useless to me because my newer product is using a different device/accessory.

Some of the products that come to mind are:

1) Chargers for mobile phones ( different types of pins) .

2) Memory cards (SD,memory stick,micros SD,flash).

3) Remote Control for TV,Video,DVD,Blu-Ray

4) Wireless (802.11a,802.11b,802.11g,802.11n)

5) Video Games ( Wii,Xbox,PS3)
