Can a plane land on water, safely ?

I am not sure what you are thinking but the answer is Yes as recently a plane did land on water and I am referring to the case when a US airways plane landed on the Hudson river. I am thankful that the plane landed safely and kudos to the pilot and crew for making this happen and no I am not saying that this should happen but at the same time, I would like to thank the guys who made this happen.

Apparently, I came across a video that simulates what may have happened.
