Do you remember who came in second?

In today’s competitive world, everything is turning to be competitive and the unique thing about being competitive is that someone wins and that means someone loses.

However; we usually remember only the ones who came in first and for some reason, we do not remember who came in second, especially with the passage of time. 

For Example; we remember who won the world cup 2008 but do we remember who came in second or was the runners up during the tournament, unless of course the runners up was the winner of the tournament, the last time the tournament was hosted.
