Sometimes you need to keep your eggs in the same basket

The old adage is that we should not keep all the eggs in the same basket. The reason behind is probably that you are adopting the  diversification strategy and if something really goes from bad to wrong then you have not lost your eggs, the eggs being symbolic of your investments.

I would say that we do need to keep checking the eggs and adopting the multiple basket strategy is a good idea but then the other side of the coin would indicate that we need more than 1 basket when go shopping.

Can you imagine going to a shop with 12 baskets to buy a a dozen eggs?

The key is perhaps to balance our strategy.
