Can you visualize the data effectively ?
As we proceed into the new millenium, there is more and data being generated which if not controlled could lead to overloading. Sometimes the data is duplicated but we get to slice and dice and make the data appealing to ourselves and our audience to minimize the confusion.
The data is usually in a format that is not visually enhanced and the need is to visualize the data so that we can identify embedded patterns.
The need for visualising the data is our ability to imagine the data with the possibility to identify any trends by leveraging or deleveraging the data to accomplish our task although you may have to apply the principles of use and disuse in tandem with cheatsheets amplified by technology to accomplish the task.
For Example; if you look at a spreadsheet with 2 columns then all you may see is numbers but when you were to visualize the data then you would perhaps draw a graph and verify if the data embeds any patterns invisible to the naked and untrained eyes.
You may also want to leverage the principles of synetics to determine if the data can have a different interpretation in an unrelated but known field and verify if you can apply the principles from the unrelated known field to solve and possibly simplify your case.
The effectiveness kicks in when you solve your problem at hand.
