Can Tea and Coffee teach us new tricks ?

Let me start with a simple example. Let’s pretend that one of your habits is to drink tea and now you are in a situation where you want to drink coffee.

Imagine that your cup holds tea in it. Now the requirement is that you want to drink coffee. Now can we pour over the tea, rinse the cup and then pour coffee into the cup.

The same concept is applicable to learning into life. The tea and coffee are 2 different skills we pursue that develop into habits. We have the power to choose if we want to have tea or coffee. However we need to be careful while our cup has some element of tea or coffee in it and we want to pursue the opportunity to fill the cup with the beverage that the cup does not have (coffee or tea).

If we pay attention then we could have tea and coffee without diluting the characteristics of the original beverage namely tea or coffee. If we do not pay attention then the taste of the tea and coffee may mix and what we may end up with is neither tea nor coffee ?

The key is to rinse before we take our next sip of tea or coffee.
