Is it better to sacrifice today or do we wait for tomorrow?
Let me get straight to the point. Today is symbolic for the short-term and tomorrow represents the future and if extrapolated correctly can represent the long-term. If you are reading this post, the chances are high that you have sacrificed at some point in time. I know that I did and hence the question that keeps popping at me and that i decided to post.
I realize that if I sacrifice today then I stand to have a better tomorrow. I also know that if I don’t sacrifice today, the chances are that I may have to sacrifice tomorrow.
For example; when I was going to school, I had to sacrifice on the social rendezvous but I knew that at some point my education will serve me and I am thankful for the wonderful opportunities that came my way and I was able to capitalize on some of these opportunities.
I have also seen cases where people may not have pursued the education but still got opportunities thanks largely due to a father or do I say a godfather like figure in their life.
At this point, the right answer may seem to be ‘It depends’. However; my goal is to leverage the sense in the 21st century and what I have learnt over time is to identify the approach that has a minimized amount of risk and hence my answer points to the former by leveraging education and sacrificing today in place of sacrificing tomorrow.
