Is On the JOB Training (OJT) effective ?

While working we come across several tasks where we wish for the manual as our perception is that reading the manual can help us resolve the issue at hand. For Example; what do we do when the baby is crying ?

I have searched high and low but I am yet to find a manual that describes a manual to handle the baby. However; I did find books and articles describe techniques to eliminate the knownissues in order to narrow down the unknown.

The same technique is the fundamental ingredient of OJT. We start with what we know and slowly work towards unraveling the mysteries that surround us and in a matter of time, we discover that we can solve an unknown problem, although initially we may have doubted our own abilities.

Yes; the OJT is very effective in handling issues especially when we do not have manuals to refer. At the end of task, the OJT provides us with the experience we were lacking and looking for.
