Do you look for explanations even when there are none?
This metaphor is an example of a concept called ‘fooled by randomness’. Our human mind is capable of detecting patterns. Over time, we see patterns evolve based upon how we exercise our mind to detect the patterns. However; sometimes we see patterns when the reality is that there is only noise. Care should be taken to identify that the patterns we detect are patterns and not simply noise.
An example of this concept is that we sometimes look for explanations even when there is none.
The key is to remind ourselves that sometimes in life there are simply no explanations.
